Shaking Crab!!!!

Why this is my first time doing this whole crab in a bag business, I DON’T KNOW!

 

So I’ve heard the hype in the last year about the chain of restaurants popping up over the North East with this Cajun style crab boil cuisine. It looks absolutely amazing and I’ve had my fair share of Cajun style food in the past but this was one feat, I was yet to accomplish.

Shaking Crab located in Quincy, Massachusetts was the location of my first taste of Cajun style crab boil. This is one of two locations they own (I believe) and the bigger of the two.

 

The Concept 

 

  1. Order your seafood by the pound (Actually order drinks and appetizers first but after you do that, do this) They offer selections of different types of crab, mussels, clams, shrimp, crayfish, lobster…etc
  2. Pick out your flavor (Spices and herbs for your seafood to be boiled in and your dipping sauce) I ordered the “Shakin’” which is the house Cajun sauce
  3. Pick out your level of spice (I’m a pepper fanatic so I will go for the “HOT or SHAKIN’ HOT”)
  4. Add on any sides (Corn, potatoes, quail eggs, sausage, shrimp + fry combo)
  5. Put on your bib and gloves and wait for your Cajun goodness to be delivered

Now, this isn’t a place for people who  don’t want to get their hands dirty. You will have gloves but your crab boil comes in a bag and you will eat out of such. You will have to dig in and crack open your shellfish for that desired cajun seasoned meat. They do offer a nutcracker and other utensils to crack hard to reach meats but tanty always said, ” food tastes better when yuh eat it with your hands!”

TIP: Dip your meat in your flavored seasoning for an added kick.
