So, I’m all for black owned businesses and whenever a new restaurant opens, I love to try it before the hype builds up and becomes “too popping”.
For everyone who is into Caribbean cuisine, Brooklyn has it’s hot spots which everyone seems to know. Suede, a popular modern Caribbean cuisine restaurant is known for their brunches and is a nice place to go if you want to dress up, go on a date or grab a quick bite to eat. Late November, the owners of Suede opened up a sister restaurant “Caribbean Social.” The restaurant is located on 847 Flatbush Ave, right in the middle of the bustling Caribbean majority population.
Martin Luther King day was a day for brunches all over the boroughs, so I decided to take my appetite there. I’m extremely impressed with the decor of the space. It is very appealing to the eye and the interior decorations were far less average than I expected. Kudos to the creative mastermind behind it.
News articles call it “upscale dining” but I’ve yet to get that feel there. It is definitely pretty to look at and has an upscale dining feel but with the high volume of patrons coming to dine and drink, they may need to work on reservations and how crowded the space can feel when walking in the door. The serving service was also a bit slow. We were told this was due to the inexperienced and new servers so I’ll give them a pass ; They have only been open roughly 2 months now.
The restaurant has two floors, a nice long bar on the first and cute and cozy seating throughout and towards the back. Upstairs has more of a lounge feel supposedly. (I didn’t make it upstairs to check it out.)
The food was great. I ordered their fire grilled salmon with rice and peas. The salmon was seasoned extremely well, which is an immediate thumbs up in my book. Their brunch mimosa special is also a nice deal. $20 for ninety minutes of unlimited mimosas. The peach and mango are my favorites.

I definetly want to come back on a less high volume weekend and see what their dinner menu has to offer.
